Carry cash in pesos: taxis and colectivos don't take cards and rarely have change for large bills.
Ask "¿cuánto a …?" and agree on the price before getting in; taxis have no meter.
Official taxis are white with a green roof. Uber doesn't operate in Puerto and DiDi is unreliable: in practice people use taxis, colectivos or mototaxis.
With big luggage or at night, a taxi is the practical choice; the colectivo is for traveling light.

Via the new highway it takes about 3 hours. ADO/OCC bus from about $350–420 MXN; Villa Escondida and Villa del Pacífico vans about $350, departures every 40 minutes from 3 am to 11 pm. In high season book a day ahead.
